I’m Zilla Schoeman, an artist in Langebaan, and I run this shop myself. This page explains what personal information I collect when you buy a painting or get in touch, what I do with it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What I collect
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your delivery and billing address
- Your order details
- Anything you tell me in a message or form
- Your email address, if you sign up for my newsletter
I don’t see or store your card details. Card payments are handled by the payment provider, and bank transfers go straight to my bank.
What I use it for
- Processing, packing and delivering your order
- Replying to your messages and return requests
- Sending my newsletter, only if you signed up for it
- Keeping the records the law asks me to keep
Who I share it with
I never sell your information. I only share what’s needed to get your painting to you: the courier gets your name, address and phone number, and the payment provider gets what it needs to take payment. My website host stores the site’s data on its servers. Meta (Instagram and Facebook) gets information about which pages and paintings you look at and when an order is placed, through the Meta pixel, unless you switch that off. See Cookies below.
Cookies
The shop uses a few small files called cookies. Some keep track of your basket and checkout, and without them the shop can’t work. The site also uses the Meta pixel, which shows me which paintings people find through Instagram and Facebook. A short notice tells you about this when you first visit; I don’t ask you to say yes first. The Meta pixel runs unless you switch it off: open Preferences in the cookie notice, or the Cookie choices button at the bottom of the screen, turn off “Instagram and Facebook” and press Save my choices. There’s no Google Analytics or other visitor statistics on the site. The full list is in my Cookie Policy.
How long I keep it
Order records are kept for as long as tax law requires. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept for as long as they’re useful for helping you.
Your rights
You can ask me to show you the information I hold about you, correct it or delete it. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email. To do any of this, email me at shop@zillajschoeman.com.
